This book describes the Salesian Society which is made of clerics and laymen who complement each other as brothers in living out the same vocation. The vocation is one, namely the Salesian Vocation, Salesian Consecrated Life. It is lived out in two ways, as clerics and as laymen. The author examines the charism of Don Bosco, which is essentially pastoral and educative and argues that both priests and brothers are needed to actualize this charism fully against the background of creation and covenant which are related to the Christ Event and invites each member to face courageously and creatively the challenge to promote both these forms in a world that is progressively becoming secularized. He also addresses the issues related to Salesian Consecrated Life clearly and masterfully.
