The Second Vatican Council (1962-65) highlighted the contextualized existence of the Church when it defined the identity of the Church not only in terms of the mystery of Christ, but also in terms of the world in which she lives and works. The theme, Post-Conciliar Liturgical Renewal in India (1965-1988), is articulated in three chapters. While the first chapter situates the background of the liturgical developments in the Church in India prior to the Second Vatican Council, the second chapter presents the implementation of the liturgical reforms in India in three phases and the third chapter focuses on the role of the All-India Liturgical Meetings in the liturgical renewal of India. The results that the Church in India has achieved thus far serve as a good beginning, but there is a long way to go before we achieve what the Second Vatican Council envisaged by initiating liturgical renewal.
