Francis Karackat, Principal of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu, has his doctorate in journalism (‘Ethics in Newspaper Journalism in Kerala’, guided by Dr. J.V. Vilanilam, the former Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University) from the University of Kerala. As one of the pioneers of Don Bosco Arts & Science College, Angadikadavu, he had served earlier for 10 years, first as the Head of the Department of Journalism (MCJ) and then as Vice-Principal, and finally as Principal. Fr. Francis Karackat secured First Rank both for BA English Literature and MCJ (Master of Communication and Journalism) from Calicut University. He cleared the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) in journalism in 1996. He served as a journalist in ‘THE HINDU’ newspaper and in the ‘Press Trust of India’ (PTI) in Thiruvananthapuram in 1996. He is currently serving also as the chief editor of ‘Don Bosco’, a a widely-circulated secular family magazine in Malayalam. He has authored 22 books, all of them on secular themes, and are best sellers. He served as the Chairman of Board of Studies for Journalism and Mass Communication in Kannur University for two terms. He is a known resource person giving professional training for college lecturers, school teachers, parents, college youth, priests and managers. He had been to France, Thailand, Italy and Rome, for international conferences presenting papers. Fr. Dr. Francis Karackat is a Catholic Priest of Don Bosco.
