He held the office of the President of the Union of Superiors General (USG) for two successive terms from 2006 to 2012. Before being elected Rector Major, he served as Rector of the Theological Institute of the Region of Inter-America from 1996 to 2002. He holds a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, (Rome) and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain). He is the author of many books and numerous scholarly articles.Currently he resides in Rome, offering his services through study, research and animation.
