Elias Dias, a nationally acclaimed expert in Salesian history and spirituality, was born at Carmona (Goa) in 1942. He made his first profession in the Salesian Congregation in 1965 and was ordained Priest in 1973. He holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Pune and a Diploma in Salesian Spirituality from the Institute of Salesian Spirituality in Berkeley (USA). He was the Provincial Administrator, Rector of Divyadaan, the Salesian Institute of Philosophy (Nasik) and Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family. Fr Dias has to his credit several publications, especially on Salesian tropics.Elias Dias, has spent many years working with young people and adults, as a teacher and a counsellor. Yet even after all that life has taught him, he believes that the inspiring example of his own mother has left the most lasting impression on him. He believes people need examples to improve their lives and to make the world a better place. His book, which records many of the talks he has given to a range of audiences over many years, could now be the medium that conveys this message of hope and change. His readers, he believes, should find in the book thoughts that will inspire them to lead more fruitful lives.
